^ really? i find my MG250DFX mushy as hell! and the onboard distortion is extremely weak... its like taking zakk wyldes marshall sound, removing its balls, and making it incredibly weak. its a bit horrible. it also lacks in low end.

EDIT: it sounds good with a distortion or multieffects pedal into it on the clean channel, but it still isnt right... it is lacking something vital, which i can't put my foot on. it is present in Opeth's distorted sound though, which is why i like it so much.

well its just my opinion of course but Ive got a killer recording of me rocin out with My MG on max vol and it pretty much fills a 500 seat auditorium like it was nothing. I tune down to C# and C though so that helps to retain bottom end. PLus the clean channel is nice for effects like distortion n' such. Just cause its solid state doesnt mean it sucks. Its a perfectly well designed amp.

newbie here. i've been lurking for a while and finally got my sets of BK pups - a set of Nailbombs, a set of Rebell Yells and a set of Irish tours. The pups will go into an ESP Custom Viper, ESP Custom Ganesa and Fender Custom Shop Strat, respectively. My other guitars include a PRS Custom 24, a Guild S-100, a 1974 Gibson SG, a Guild Bluesbird, an Ibanez George Benson GB-20, a Heritage ES-335. I have a couple of fender basses - a 1978 PBass and  Custom Jazzbass I made myself.

I've had a few amps over the years but these are the ones I have been using for the last few, in the studio and live. From the top: Mesa Boogie Mark IV, Mesa Boogie DC-5, Diezel VH4, Mesa Boogie Trem-o-Verb 100W head. I usually triamp live but I track eack one separately when I record. Thanks for letting me share.

Just what I was thinking. Surely that is too many amps for one person to own?!

Not quite overkill but they do all serve their purpose in the studio or in live gigs. IN fact, this batch of amps is the smallest I've ever gotten my collection to which is nice because I can get every tone I need for projects from them. I borrow amps I don't have as needed. I used to have several other amps but eventually sold them. They included a Soldano SLO100, a Randall RG100H (Dimebag Darrel's Pantera-era amps before he switched to Kranks), Marshall JCM 900, Marshall JCM 2000, VHT Pitbull. All of them were nice but as I played them, I wanted a more consolidated rig because they just took up too much space and som of the amps were not as versatile as I wanted them to be. Oh well...at least they all went to good homes:)

If my Mrs saw all those amps in our spare room I'd be divorced instantly. No trial separation, straight divorce. Shedding £200 on BKP's was bad enough for her!

Currently using a Laney TF300 120 watt combo. Does all I need for now, although a Mesa Boogie Road King head and cab would be the order of the day if my lottery numbers came up.
Warpigs.

Dang, mate, I can feel your pain. Fortunately, I am not married and refuse to take cr@p from anyone I date about the things I do about music. I've been playing music for as long as I can remember so I can validate my music gear because it actually gets use. This was a point of argument with my ex-gf who had problems with my gear, my DJing, and the argument that I could do with one guitar or amp. Maybe. I always found it odd how she couldn't ever explain why she had 40 pairs of shoes in her closet. 4 amps versus 40 shoes - there wasn't much argument there:)

At least you got yourself some BKP's right? Hopefully the 'ol gal will warm up to em and say,"Ohh..you need to get more of these kickin' pickups!"

heh, same here - I'm constantly bewildered at mates that let girlfriends dictate how much guitar gear they have.  It's different if you're married as the cash-pot is shared, but I'm still not the kind of bloke to be dictated to.
