WARPIG: my last questions
« Reply #30 on: January 14, 2007, 08:17:31 PM »
i have yet another question about the Warpig, but don't just say "buy the damn thing" because i want to be satisfied with a £100 purchase.

is the ceramic Warpig too scooped?
because my current pickup (a Dimebucker) is too scooped for my liking.

thanks

Warpig!
You will not be dissapointed. 15 years of playing the guitar and nothing, amp or guitar related, has impressed me as much as the Warpigs I fitted last Friday :)

with my setup, i doubt there will be a good difference:

Dean Razorback >> cr@ppy cheap multi-effects pedal (of which i will not name, too embarrassing!) >> marshall MG250DFX solid state

but if i got a laney first, then i would notice the difference more.

I have both :D And it made a shiteload of difference when i tried it through the Laney. Though it would make difference on any rig it's a completely different pickup.

I play an MG100 into a 412. It dominates dude. I know its cr@ppy solid state but once I got my Pig It just didnt matter. And its not like I havent played tube amps, I have. But I still sound like me, no matter what Im playing through. To me, tube i a different flavour and its a lot louder. I agree that the OD on the MG's can be alil bit 'fizzy' or just generaly lacking presence but when improving your tone start with the guitar first and then look to a different amp.
Edit; Those MG's are pretty loud too BTW. I once had the opportunity to play to a 500 seat theatre with mine on around 9 and there were people leaving within the first 2 minutes of my set. Yeh, thats metal I dont care what ya say.
