I changed my mind...
« on: June 26, 2005, 11:04:05 PM »
As you all know, I was going to buy some BK Trilogy Suites to stick in my Strat...

But I got bored of the Idea, I decided that singlecoils dont really cut it in terms of power and tone when compared to humbuckers...plus some of the BK humbuckers look really cool.

So anyway, I'm looking for something that is going to have tight lows for rhythm (metal all the way baby, think Metallica, Megadeth, Racer X, Slayer, Motley, Ozzy, Pantera etc) and then a nice screaming lead sound, I was thinking of a set of calibrated Nailbombs.  Any other ideas/suggestions?

Ideally they'd be tonally different to the calibrated set of WarPigs that my rhythm player has.

Ooooh, I've also got lots of ideas for custom wiring as well, who needs tone pots?

Bare in mind it is maple neck/ash body...

Steve, that's what I thought, I fell in love with the etched Nailbomb cases when I first saw some, could I get a quote on what I wanted thru PM's please?

I might do but I don't think it'll be as tight as the Nailbombs, I'm looking for that proper metal growl and thump.

I would defiantly go for the Nailbomb set, you'll get more of the metal growl that you want. It is more of a modern metal tone, The VHII is more vintage sounding, not so much gain, and is less forgiving with your playing.

I'll try my best. They won’t look exactly the same but they should come out the same colours. It all depends on what base material, chemicals and temperature I distress them with.

Back to square one.

Guess we'll have to figure out what specific tone Bucketshred is after.

Aye.

To be honest I dont really know what tone I'm after, just something based along that of Racer X, Killswitch, Slayer, early 'Tallica, early 'Deth, Primus.  But it has to sound shite hot for solos and squeals and sit nicely against a set or Warpigs in an LP, compared to my Strat.
