What Wah can I use with lots O' Distortion
« on: December 29, 2006, 03:15:58 PM »
Hi Guys,

I got a couple of guitarcenter.com gift cards, so I figured I'd pick up a wah pedal to play with for fun.
I like using my distortion pedals (Big D and Body Rot II), so I was wondering if someone could recommend a Wah that works really well with distortion and is offered on the guitarcenter.com website.  thanks in advance!

Dunlop Zakk Wylde Wah!!!

It is built to cut through any amount of gain, Zakk Wylde never uses his wah on a clean sound, so it was built for huge amounts of distortion.

Thanks guys,

I was reading reviews and stuff and am leaning towards with the 535Q or Classic wah's from dunlop.  Both are getting good reviews and seem to have a hardwired DPDT bypass.  So I'm guessing no tone sucking.
I dont think the DB and ZW models have this switch.

Actually, no, I'm pretty sure the DimeBag model has that, it's basically a 535Q +...so I've heard.

But nonetheless, the 535Q is pretty versatile to say the least, have fun.

There is the RMC3 custom wha, it cuts through anything, like a chainsaw. Much more expensive than normal but worth the money.

www.realmccoycustom.com

I dont know if they sell them from the place you want though?

hope that helps you.

I played my Ibanez Weeping Demon through my Big D on setting 5 (the fuzzy one) with full gain and full Bigger engaged - it worked a treat.  Also with my English Muff'n on full gain (i.e. Big Muff style) - also works.

I use the RMC3 with a Fuzz Octavia Tychobrane replica, and a Keeley Fuzz face, and with the amp gain on full a Vox VR30, the wha still sounds the same as when it's totally clean, very vocal like sweep.

Well,

I bought the cry baby 535q with the fasel and it sounds pretty good on, but sucked the high end when off.
I guess there is a big difference between true-bypass and hardwired bypass.
Its going back just for the pure fact that I dont feel like unplugging it and plugging it when I want to use it.
My pig got plenty of bass,  I dont need to lose some of the highs...lol
I guess ill buy that damn boss tuning pedal Ive been wanting for a while and some other extra cr@p.

Ill save the cash for a real wah.  thanks

The Morley Bad Horsie isn't too bad with some gain on it...
Real men turn their volume to 11!

Rebel Yells + Les Paul = the Ultimate Rock Pickup.
