which pups?
« on: January 01, 2007, 02:48:53 PM »
Hi, I'm planning on buying some BKP, but don't really now which ones to take. In my bridge I want one that great for trash, so goot treble and bass, with a lot of articulation, but it needs to be very versatile, so I was thinking at a Nailbomb, are there better ones for me? (Can you get tones like eg. Bullet for my valentine, metallica, trivium etc out of these? But can you also get rocksounds out of it?)

For my neck I wanted a different pup, one that is very articulate, (not muddy!) It needs to be good for strumming and soloing, in a big variety of styles, going from metalcleans to jazzstuff, what are the best pups for this?
And is it difficult to combine these pickups or not, or can you order them so that they come combined or something?
Thanx
Greetz Wouter

PS my rig is: Gibson Les Paul Studio
                    Mesa Boogie Mark IV
                    Ibanez TS-808

Should I get a Miracle man in both my neck and bridge? Or is it better to combine a miracle man with another one?

How about a Mississippi Queen for that P90 sound - it has versatility in the range you want
BKPS: Milks, P90s, Apaches, Mississippi Queens, Mules, PG Blues, BG FP 50s, e.60s strat custom set

I'm not even a huge ceramic fan, but if you're going to get one it will certainly be at it's best in a Les Paul that is for sure.

Basically a Nailbomb should be fuller sounding where the Miracle Man will remove mids for lows.  You could pull a wider variety of tones out of the Nailbomb though....

I have a Nailbomb in an alder bodied ESP, neck-thru with an ebony fretboard.   You can most certainly play metal on a Nailbomb and they rock quite well too.  However IMO the Nailbomb's strongest point is it's lead tone - leads just sound so damn good with a Nailbomb.   I could definitely see it working great in a Les Paul as well.

For the neck, the Rebel Yell neck (which is very close to a CS neck) sounds perfect.
Real men turn their volume to 11!

Rebel Yells + Les Paul = the Ultimate Rock Pickup.

Not bad.... it's having trouble playing songs all the way through for me though for some reason....

They also do an amazing George Lynch-like lead tone as well and work great with delays and such.
