Sounds like your Warpig is faulty and is of no further use.

Send it to me and I will dispose it for you

I know this sounds like a stupid question, so my apologies, but was the guitar working OK before you swapped the pickup?  It sounds like the switch is upside down (no big deal, I think that's how EVH liked his Peaveys wired).

You should only have had to un-solder then re-solder 2 connections to the bridge volume pot, there's no way that should have affected the function of the selector switch.

Well, by the sound of it, nothing.  :?

Just to confirm, to install the pickup (it's 2-conductor, right?) you should have had to do 4 things:

1. Un-solder the old pickup's hot wire from the left-hand tag of the bridge pickup volume pot.
2. Un-solder the ground connection from the back of the same pot.
3. Solder the braided part of the BKP's cable to the back of the pot.
4. Solder the BKP's hot wire to the pot's left hand tag.

If you disconnected or connected anything else, then something's wrong.

That is exactly what i did.

So why do i have a mutant super human middle position which sounds suspiciously more warpig than my bridge position.

That's what it sounded like you did.

No idea!   :?      Unless it's some strange consequence of the fact that in the middle position you have a super-powerful ceramic pickup combined with a vintage-output (I assume) alnico pickup.  It's possible the pickups are out of phase, but that would normally produce a bright-but-hollow sound, not something huge.

It's not really possible to wire a 3-way toggle switch to select the bridge pickup in the middle position, or vice versa.  The switch doesn't work that way.  And you can't have accidentally shorted a coil of the WP, because it's only 2-conductor.

Maybe the bottom line is that the Ceramic Warpig just doesn't sound the way you expected.  Either that, or it's faulty.

the WP should have plenty of bass and output - something isn't right here.  have you checked the wiring against a wiring diagram?

here's a diagram to check it against... http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schematics/2h_2v_1t_3w.html

Me and _Tom_ have decided Tokai are gay and have put my switch backwards, it is pretty clear what has happened, because everything i think is right is the opposite on Tom's. So my perception of a bridge humbucker and a neck humbucker have been completely reversed.

You mean when you listen to the bridge pickup you think you're listening to the neck pickup?  Does that mean the CWP is OK after all?

Yeah the Warpig is amazingly huge!

I always thought a bridge humbucker sounded like a neck and a neck like a bridge. Well done Tokai!
