thanks for the suggestion,
would the Miracle Man sound good in a neck-thru Flying V with maple neck, alder wings, and ebony fingerboard? again, I'm aiming for an awesome thrash tone ala Annihilator.

It would sound very good, Miracle Man has his tradmark harmonics and is generally the best suggestion for a thrash pickup.

I vote Painkiller at least for Jeff Water's earlier tones.

I've used both the Miracle Man and the SD Distortion pickup (that JW uses) in my Les Paul and I'd say the MM doesn't quite have the mids for the job.
I also know what Annihilator sound like (got records from back in the day and saw them live with 'Priest). I would say Painkiller for sure.

I would have said that annihilator is more of a 'scooped' sound rather than mid orientated?

mid-scooped? I remember 'Stonewall' and 'Word Salad' to be pretty meaty, not the typical scooped-mids thrash tone.
If you want scooped, go with the MM.
If you want a MM with more mids, get the Painkiller.

okay I got that cashola on hand, so it looks like I'll order both the Miracle Man and Painkiller and see which I like better :)
