Bugger me they're 10x better than Celestion, just loaded my 4x12 up with 2 Private Jacks and 2 Governors @ 8ohms.

And they're the sweetest speakers i've heard in a long time, totally better than any Celestion Loaded cab i've heard recently.

How would you compare the Governor to a V30 (if you've tried em)? I've heard theyre like a smoother V30.. thinking about getting either one of those speakers to go with my G12H in a 2x12 but I cant decide which to go with.

imagine the V30 with a sweeter more harmonic detailed midrange, and slightly rolled off highs so you dont get that ear piercing shrillness of the v30.. i'd recommend the Governor it's lovely!

Nice! I think I'll get one for my cab to go with my Laney then, although the top half where the Governor will go is open back so not sure how it'll affect the sound?

Looks like I'm getting a Private Jack then, as long as postage on that site isn't like £35.

What I really want to try is Weber, though. By all accounts, they rule. Unfortunately, postage and customs brings them up to around £85-£90 a pop, and I can't really justify that for a Valve Junior that only costs about the same!

yea the private jack is really grindy but vintagey it's sweet.. just imagine the Governor is a Rottwieller and the private jack is a really $%&#ing nasty jack russel covered in razor blades.. but in a good way.

^ yeah. only thing I'm a little wary of is the high wattage and it not getting pushed enough, but they're supposedly rated a little differently to celestion anyway (which by all accounts are rated conservatively), so I guess it should be fine.

I have the Eminence Red C. on the Splawn cabinet, they where best recommended by Scott for "they break at low volume" , and as I was looking for excellent British sound :)

Does anyone Have any experience of the Man O' War's? I've heard their a slightly smoother version of G12T-75's. Anyone?

I have Eminence Redcoat "The Wizard" in my Peavey Classic 30 which works really well - also worth considering

I also have 'The Wizard' in my Deluxe Reverb amp. It sounds fantastic; no sharp treble that you sometimes get with the Deluxes. Of course, since the amp's wattage is relatively low, the speaker won't allow it to break up as much. This works for me though becuase I use pedals for overdrive.

Jack, the Man O' War's are aggressive and really tight sounding with a slightly scooped mids plenty of power handling.

and yea I was considering the Wizards but found them quite hard to get hold of in the uk for some reason and didnt wanna order from Thomann.de again after the ammount of time it took for my last order from them.

if you don't mind me asking, where did you get your eminence speakers from? I found wizards here though they have to order them from you?

Unless "specially order in" is what you mean by "hard to get"?

I can't find much info on British eminence dealers on the web, to be honest.

Dave - I got mine from a guy in Hull but I think that he has gone out of business. He used to advertise on eBay and on the web but his website is no longer active.

From the Eminence site they only give the main distributor

Other than that I could not find anything useful in the UK other than Blue Aran - loads in the USA but I guess that postage might be a tad on the high side.
