Warpig does Wishbone Ash

Hi guys,

I'm new to the board, but I thought I'd introduce myself with this demo. I write the Classic Rock column for Guitar Techniques magazine. I was recently asked to use a Kasperek guitar for the column because they wanted to promote them. It was fitted with a set of Warpigs. That month's band was Wishbone Ash, so I guess this is a chance to hear the 'pigs doing something a little different.

One of the best things about the Kasperek was how in tune it always sounded, and having read Steve Stevens' comments, I'd guess that could be in part thanks to the Bare Knuckle. Anyway, I was impressed and now I've got the bug to change the pickups in my Les Paul. Damn you, Tim!  :D

The tone was the Kasperek (which is similar to a Les Paul or PRS Singlecut) into a Marshall JMP-1, straight into Cubase. I'm pretty sure it's just bridge pickup throughout. It's a shame I didn't get a chance to try it with a mic'ed up amp, but it still sounds pretty authentic to Wishbone Ash, I reckon.

Thanks guys! I've had to give that guitar back now, so I don't think I'll be able to post any more clips for a while. I'm going to record an album this year, though, and I've got a bug to buy all the gear I want before I make it, so that I can have the best tone possible on the album. So some Bareknuckles could be on the cards soon... God, there's a grand's worth of gear I want at the moment...

Nice to meet you all, anyway!

I've always said that my pigs are better for cleans than metal distortion, apparently they're pretty damn good at classic rock too. Now I just need a nice matamp LX and a 1224 and a tube screamer and a bogner and a seven string and a bass and a...

And I have to say, I wouldn't have expected a JMP1 to get that nice an ashy tone with any guitar, let alone one with warpigs.

Hi Cheese Ninja, welcome to the board.

The song isn't called anything other than "Wishbone Ash style", I'm afraid!

I write a profile on a different classic rock band every month for Guitar Techniques, and I have to write a track in their style. I wasn't planning on doing anything else with it, so I didn't bother giving it a title.

You can call it "Wishbone Crash" if you want!
