Interesting EBay auction
« on: January 11, 2007, 01:02:44 AM »
It's been a while since I started a topic, anyway due to my lack of a 6 string I have been searching ebay for interesting items and I found this.

I have a slight feeling that things may be too good to be true as it's a silly starting price and the seller dosn't seem to know what country he / she is in (could explain the starting price)

Would agree with Feline...

If it looks too good to be true then it probably is!

The pics look REALLY professional, like they've been done by a shop or pro seller?  If that was the case, they'd have a better eBay username and links to their website.

The auction stinks of stolen pictures and a fake auction.

That's my thought too, but I'm trying to stick to my new years resolution regarding cynacism ;)

However I agree with Feline about the need to have a bucket of popcorn to hand while spectating what will no doubt be a complete soap opera.

Zero feedback

Well everyone has to start somewhere (he says innocently).  The pictures are fantastic, but the starting price (with no reserve) is ridiculous.

This is the bit that really smells funny:

"Seller's payment instructions
Payment must be done only by bank account"

Could it be one of those "I am the former Finance Minister of Upper Volta, I have $14,000,000 for you in a Swiss bank account, just send me your bank details" scams?

RockNRollVintage is an established dealer in Chicago.  They have a web site www.rocknrollvintage.com.    I'm sure these pictures are something that they have sold.   Interestingly 6264 (the serial number), is mentioned in a couple of articles on the web. and in this ebay sale too

Strange how 2 zero feedback accounts are selling the same guitar isn't it? (or not - if they don't have it anyway)

The serial number should start 8. The 4 digit serial number is nonsense. They were done away with in 57.

No actually in this case you are wrong.  There are some 58 Juniors and Specials with 4 digit serial numbers in the 6000 and 7000 range.  It just happens, stangely or not, that 6264 is often used as an exaple of this!

It's a well travelled guitar.  From "Spain, Valencia, UK" to "China, Sweden" all in a couple of weeks.  :?  :?:

This is an interesting one isn't it?

The pics do look to be of a genuine old LP Junior, but whether that's what the seller actually has in his/her posession to sell is a different matter.

Just feels a little bit wrong, if you know what I mean.
