I have one pickup, how about another? Humbucker.

I know you get about 1,798 of these a day, but it isn't just a "what should I get?" I am looking over my options, and... well... I have to do another Bareknuckle.

I have the Mississippi Queen P90 (Matt Bellamy custom wound) at the neck, and a Rio Grande Crunch at the bridge. I am noticing that the Rio Grande, in comparison to the P90, has a really weak sound. Clean that is... Distorted it is great.

It has a compressed treble sound, it has no life it seems. No dynamics. And as I said, when it is clean.

Is there such thing as a humbucker that has great power distorted AND sounds great clean? As I said, when it as distorted, it was everything I wanted. I just want a humbucker that has as much life as the Mississippi Queen while it is clean (incredible pickup by the way).

Any suggestions?

I play on one end, heavy rock, where great harmonics are a must (Muse style). And on the other end, I play gentle clean stuff, light finger picking, jazz. I will mostly use the P90 for that, but I would like some diversity... I don't want the humbucker to be completely useless while clean.

Thanks :-)

Nice forum you all have here....

sounds very vague.
most of the BKP in the category you want work in that manner.
I suggest you send Tim an email. He'll point you in the right direction if you are spoilt for choice.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

Crawler, Mule, VHII and Rebel Yell would be great for that purpose just depends which you like the idea of?

i'd say Rebel Yell would suit you the most..

The RG Crunchbunch is a fairly hot ceramic pup, as I recall.  Simply in terms of resistance and magnet-type, it must be almost like Painkiller, getting close to a Miracle Man!

For your tone, I'd be tempted to go Alnico, instead; the Crawler and the Rebel Yell might be good choices, depending on whether you want to go slightly darker or brighter.  (Of the two, I'd tap the Crawler to sit with the MQ, but that might just be me.)  Now that I think about it, another viable option might very well be the Holydiver, actually ....

So many options....

I take it I wouldnt find a shop anywhere in California that has these... right?

The pickups I have heard a lot about are the Holy Diver, Nailbomb, and Miracle Man. Is there a place I can go that gives me a detailed description of each pickups sound?

Apart from the descriptions linked from the existing Products page , you're reduced to searching through the Forum archives :/

Considerably more detailed product info has been promised on a web site revamp for a looong time time, but alas! this hasn't happened yet.  I think the BKP dudes have been too busy winding pickups to update the web site!
