CD input = line level input ?

I have a CD/ipod etc input on my combo, and I was wondering if this could take a line level signal. I ask because I'm considering using a preamp in front of my combo, which has no effects loop or power amp in, and the CD input seems to bypass the combo preamp.

Yes, CD input = line level.

Impossible to know if it bypasses the preamp on the combo, tho.

Thanks, I thought it bypassed the preamp just cos the eq and gain controls don't affect the CD I'm putting through it, but actually I don't know  :oops:

So would it be OK to run a preamp into said CD input?
