As Europe will be playing ssome dates in the UK  in Feb to support the new album - Secret Society I thought it wastimely to remind folks about what an amazing guitarist John Norum is

And Europe are seriously much heavier than you'd expect

A compilation of solos from the last album tour in London
Watch out for his solo spot at about 04.35 on this 9 minute compilation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8suniq0wII

That solo on it's own

A Yngwie-tastic clip (Aphasia) from the 1985 album Wings of Tomorrow

And for those who think Europe are lightweight and nothing more than The Final Countdown

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf4uZ9pvZbk

Although "Countdown" did have THAT solo

Yeah, Europe are HELL A LOT heavier than what you'd really think about them after only hearing Final Countdown

WONDERFUL solos and loving THE solo, amazing tone! The keyboards on that one remind me of Pink Floyd
Can anyone tell what Marshall are those behind them?

Miracle Man neck with a beast like that = audio nirvana

EDIT: listening the second time the long guitar solo, it sounds like Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond feat. Steve Vai
Metal is forever, but I still got the blues for you

i wasnt looking at the video, and expected to see a strat-style guitar at least... is it just me, or is it unusually bright for a les paul?

Yeah some of their rituals are a little but strange for grown men to take part in.

Though back home they have a hell of a lot of influence, one tatooist refused to do my one and only tattoo because he was afraid that his landlord (a mason) woult find out and evict him, fecking crazy
