Which guitar???

Can't decide, Which would you recommend as the better guitar?

Edwards RV-138

or...

ESP SV Standard bk

I'm happy to save, i could buy the Edwards In a week, ESP a little while longer. I'm not sure. Maybe you got some recommendations? Has anyone compared them both?

Cheers!

Haven't tried either I'm afraid, but isn't the ESP about twice the price despite having pretty much identical specs (apart from pickups)?

That suggests the Edwards is a bit of a bargain.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

As a general rule, Edwards are the 'factory made' guitars (I'm not sure but maybe outsourced, like Ibanez being made by Fujigen?) and ESP are the 'handmade' (presumably by ESPs own staff). But both are made in japan and are great quality. I think if you get the ESP you'll have better inlays/binding/fret work etc but Edwards are pretty decent.
The other thng to think of of course is resale value, the ESP will keep more value than the Edwards.

Yeah, I don't know, my Edwards has nothing on it to say where it was made.  Not even a "Made In Japan", surprisingly.

The quality's more than good enough for me, but then I'm happier buying a mid-price guitar and pimping it up myself, rather than spending twice as much on a guitar that doesn't need pimping.  I'm much more of a tinkerer than a player to be honest.

Where can you get these ESP Edwards in england?

I really, really want a E-CY-130D...

It'd help with my latest obsession over Freak Kitchen / Mattias IA Eklundh

Nowhere, at least as far as I know.  You can order direct from Japanese dealers like Ishibashi and Guitar Japan, and there are also some dealers on eBay.

So basically, it'd be cheaper to buy an esp, bugger.

I'm really gassing for a 27 fret, H/S, floyd rose style guitar...

I think I saw one or two last time I was in Denmark Street. That was 6 months ago, though.

yes, but the ESP SV is around £1,300 from Thomann... Only place i found it. It'll cost me less to import the Edwards etc. And i got a couple of Ceramic Warpigs sitting here... So the SV has to have something special about it to justify the huge cost jump.

ESPs are way to expensive new, but they do not hold their value so you can find older ones in perfect playing condition for cheap (as I have).
Real men turn their volume to 11!

Rebel Yells + Les Paul = the Ultimate Rock Pickup.

Whereas importing the Edwards from, say, Ishibashi would cost about £700 including shipping, import duty etc.  It's a big difference!
