Bareknuckle for death metal?
« on: January 28, 2007, 12:11:55 AM »
Hello,

I play a Flying V baritone and looking to replace the bridge humbucker.  which Bareknuckle would be good for Morbid Angel, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, etc?

I need clarity and definition for ultra fast picking rhythm crunch and solos.

the guitar is 28-5/8" scale bolt-on with maple neck, alder body, ebony fingerboard, and tune-o-matic bridge.

thanks

There's some great death metal clips in the players section. Using Warpig's and Nailbombs. Look for a post by a guy called 'Drac'.

i would say for the heaviest tones, go for Warpig or Ceramic Warpig. there are loads of heavy clips in the "players" section of them if you search.

The ceramic warpig is the best pickup for death metal there is. But that.

hey thanks

the Ceramic Warpig sounds sinister

what about a neck humbucker to go along with it?  something for true clean tones?

Are you also going to be using the neck for leads?

probably not, mainly just for cleans, since I understand the ceramic Warpig cannot clean-up.

Neck Warpigs are always alnico V, and from the clip i've found here, it cleans up nicely :)

I've got a neck warpig (alnico) in an SG, and it cleans up very well. Gives a very deep and well rounded tone, perfect for metal cleans IMO. Think the intro to Enter Sandman.
