Lo-Pro Vs Edge
« on: January 30, 2007, 10:05:56 PM »
What makes the Lo-Pro so much better/popular than the Edge? I don't get how it can be that much different.

Enlighten me!

LoPro = edge (with some modifications)

it's the LoTRS trems you got to steer clear of. cheap materials, cheap parts.
i broke the lower part of a LoTRS EdgeII (where the bar is inserted) off on a friends rg470. only time i heard/seen it happen. we took it to the shop and got the LoPro fitted, zero problems since.

Cheers for clearing that up, yeah i knew the TRS had a reputation for being shite, i just wondered why there was so much lo-pro love and not as much edge love, though when i played a lo-pro it felt perfect.

Amen to that! I had an RG470 for a year or so, and the trem sucks monumentally

the lo-trs is a piece of cr@p.

difference between the edge and lo-pro is that the lo-pro is low profile. it's mainly preference.

captain obvious to the rescue!

So, the Edge III (as featured on the RG trem models) is alright, yeah?

I've got RGs with the Lo-Pro and the Original Edge.  The Lo Pro is less obtrusive and works really well.  What I have found, for some reason I can't explain, is that the Edge "flutters" better.  Whether it's the extra weight higher up that helps I don't know.  It oculd just be that the Lo-Pro I've got is quite worn as it's on a well used guitar.

Personally, I prefer the Original Edge.

umm.. hmm.. actualy i havent played any new ibanez with the III trem, so i cant say anything about it really, but with the II being as it is, i'd say the III is one step lower.
made in korea piece of cr@p IMO

+1

I'm not sure if I've tried the edge III or not, but considering how good the lo-trs was...

also added to the fact that if they wanted to whack a decent trem in there they'd just put in an edge pro or original edge/lo-pro edge.

Ibanez have been gippy enough in the past to bear a watching, basically.

I think you'll find that after market TRS trems are a completely different animal to the OEM ones.
