My bands demo reviewed!
« on: February 02, 2007, 12:15:31 AM »
"If you're a fan of The Dears or Radiohead, this is the band for you. The vocals are beautifully ethereal, and particularly on 'This Rift' The Dears comparison is obvious, but musically it's a mix of chiming guitar and charging drums, combined with the vocals it's haunting and enchanting. 'The Argument' changes tack with distorted guitar and a slightly dancey melody, the faster pace of the music is brilliantly charged but the vocals don't quite suit the pace on occasion, although the multi-tracked harmonies are nice. 'Red Queen's layered vocals and subtle guitar is goose-bump inducing, the vocals are strong and wistful and when the insistent drums and guitar kick in the song gains even more intensity. Definitely the best song on the demo."

I'm actually not on the demos; we've got an entirely new line-up and have had for about 4 months now. I got brought in to add some more psychedelic and jazzy guitars. And we sound even better with the new line-up; cant wait to record again!

Hey Ben, thanks!

The review was actually in a printed newspaper (regional), so although the internet is good it ain't that good!

That's actually the whole review above though, unedited and with the pecularity of choosing our least favourite song as the best song  :)

Hey that stuff is actually pretty damn good!!!

The vocals remind me of Kele Okereke from Bloc Party for some reason.

Good going anyway  :D  nice to see a band on myspace who are actually good for a change

Cheers guys!

I realise its not the typical thing for the BK forum...a distinct lack of pointy guitars and downtuned riffs, but I'm grateful for your words! :D

Yeah, it actually went down surprisngly well at my pottery forum. The guys over at knitting.com werent' so keen tho!

What I meant was that, you know, its very very metal-oriented over here, which is kinda strange I don't really reckon that is the major demographic of BK sales, but yeah man, music is music! :P
