any ideas,price range up to £400 max combo,footswitch, 2chanells minimum.reverb.tube or solid state or hybird preferbale hybird because of price range.prferable without onbaord effect,but i dont mind.
few ideas.

Well if you are putting the marshall avt into the running then I would suggest looking at one of the Vox hybrid amps.

The current AVT range isn't as bad as some people claim, but there is better out there.

Get some extra money and head after Dakines Mesa is another option ;)


yer i know bout the vox but there more modalin amps,there have too many amp presets i just want a simple 2 channel clean overdirve or even a second overdrive channel
but i think im leaning towards the randall

Not so sure about the AVT - Low end Marshalls don't cut it for me at the moment.

Haven't heard much or anything on the Randall :S

H&K make a tube amp for about £400, 20w, 1x12 combo.

I think you can get the 5w Peavey that Satch endorses for about that aswell, which is meant to be ace.

Laney LC30 combo is about £400 I think - Never played one but Laney's tend to play nicely.

Best thing you could do is get a 2nd hand high end amp though. Look around on places like Ebay or if you have contacts in the US, (Which I've heard you saying before) then you could get a great deal.

Edit: I have the VOX AD30VT - Don't get it. Sooo much better out there, and the stupid amount of amps makes it impossible to use with pedals.

i agrre with the comment about low end marshalls but for with the cash i have i cant realy be picky.i no about the h and k amp but its no quite what im after.i wil lhave a look at that laney

i play anything to be honest,but mainly i need it for my band,and since we play at school i mainly need it for pop punk kinda stuff.well basically it needs a good gain channel.but at home i play anything.

TG gave the randall RG (RH?) head 5 star, and said that the clean channel was ok, but the distortion channel was destructive  :twisted:

also it has changeable gain from modern to lower gain on the distortion channel.

if you want quotes, just say  :wink:

User Reviews on HC seem very friendly to the Laney LC30, but Harmony Central is either 10/10/10/10 or 1/1/1/2/1, so don't take me too seriously.

yeah i played through a randall rg g3series and the gain was just well,wow,is how i would put it,and yeah it has to gain channls,classic gain for al your acdc stuff then a more metal modern gain.i found the clean to be pretty good to,well better than i thought it would be.
