I'd try the laney - They seem sexy, I've been looking around.

If you're not willing to order online for the 400, and not willing to pay the 500ish they'll ask in shops, then you can get a 2nd hand one for about 150-300.

That Ashdown does seem sweet - And it's full tube - Would deffo look at that before the Randall.

The Ashdown is an all tube amp for very little money, and has a very good clean channel, as well as an awesome gain channel (and when you add the volume boost on the gain channel it's nuts). The sound is warm, full and rich, and very controlable. The EQ controls can completely change the character of it, from a honky blues crunch, to a spikey punk sound, to sludgey alternative riffs to crushing thrash tones, it does pretty much everything when it comes to Gain. The bass definition is unbelievable, and when you play a downtuned guitar through it it grabs you by the throat and roars  :twisted:

Not even cool for practice, since I use a Boss ME-50, and basically I can't get any sound from the amp which isn't either a "US Hi-Gain" amp, or a 1950s boutique amp. Since I play modern death metal - not the most suitable of choices.

And you can't create your own sounds, only alter the other amp sounds, and since none of them sound too great, it's a pain in the ass.

Shame that there isn't a hi gain scooped death metal amp model >.<

Spiders are far too characterless for me, my next amp will be a 2nd hand Laney half stack of some sort, or a Genz Benz if I can get my hands on them xD

i was just sayom get a cheap one for a metal tone that you wont,rather than your vox.i no there pretty bad beacuse yes i had one,actualy i still have it.

Not even using an amp at the moment, got my guitar plugged into my ME-50 straight into my PC, where I have a surround sound system going on - Recording some stuff at the moment, but in reality I can't even be bothered to go back into my amp :P

lol yepo bin there done that with my mg100dfx and my spider was a free upgrade as my first ever amp some fender thing that come with my squier strat kept blowing up,as in ,caught of fire,lol :twisted: that amp was posesed :twisted:
