So, for a Mahogany/Maple Semi Acoustic...

I've got some unexpected money coming in (insurance policy matured that I didn't know I had.) so I figured I'd update the pickups on my semi -acoustic.
What I've got in mind is, as a start point, Oasis turned up to 11, cross with AC/DC and then move onwards and upwards from there. Yes, I know that too much gain is bad for a semi - well one with holes in (which it is).
Some people say that Warpigs are good for Jazz - and presumably semi's? But I was thinking Painkillers, perhaps. (I don't want to compromise top end even if it does mean a bigger bottom, that's why I've decided against Warpigs)

I have not got experience personally of semi or of humbuckers but from what I do know, I would say go for low output pups.I think Phil King can give some personal recommendations and I think(sorry if I am wrong Phil) he would suggest Stormy Mondays-to give the classic semi tone.I have been considering this myself you see- a semi is a possibility at some point.

I wouldn't go too far past 12 Kohm output with a semi and no ceramic magnets either.

Maybe some Rebel Yells would work. The growl might give it a bit of a Gretsch vibe too.

I would not go with high output pickups in a semi.  It really takes away from the tone and will give you a lot of problems with feedback.  About the hottest I would say is the Riff Raff.  My preference (as mr 38th surmised), is the Stormy Monday.  Don't think that it can't rock.  Remember that all the classic rock was on original Gibsons which are from 7-8K.
So many pickups, so little time

I'd go with either Stormy Mondays, or the humbucker sized P-90 Mississippi Queen.  SMs will give you that classic PAF-type without colouring the natural guitar tone I believe, and the MQs would give you a more meaty growly sound.

Thanks folks. I suppose, deep down, I knew that PKs would be excessive. (I just hoped they weren't excessively excessive :) ) So: Riff Raffs, Stormy Mondays or (possibly) Rebel Yells... [The other side of the coin is I'm more of a single coil type, but, since the guitar already has coil splitting, it seems a waste not to have humbuckers]
