Ibanez Conductor stuff

Just to check it's 2 conductor wiring for a standard hsh setup right? I don't need 4 conductor?

2 are soldered and taped off so I assume that the full function of the 4 conductor isnt neccessary. I think on a 2 con you'd just put the bare to ground (back of volume pot) and the core wire to where black is on this diagram.

Someone more knowledgable should probably confirm this though..

Depends if you want the single coil to pair with a full humbucker in positions 2 and 4, or a split coil from the 'bucker to sound more Strat-ish.  The coil split is the more popular option (like on Ibanez and Jackson superstrats).  If you want to split you'll need four conductor wire, or if not then two conductor will be fine.

I'd go for 4 conductor so you can get the strat inbetween sounds.
Actually I was reading today that Larry DiMarzio designed Steve Vai's middle single coils (Jem and Blaze etc) purely for use in the 2 and 4 position with a split humbucker, which probably explains why they always sound pants when played on their own.

I agree, if you wanted to do a Jem style wiring with the humbuckers automatically split in positions 2 and 4, you'd need 4-conductor cable:

I always think it's better to get 4-conductor just to keep your options open, but the choice is yours.  :D
