Tele neck 'bucker
« on: February 19, 2007, 04:12:45 PM »
I'm starting a partscaster project, alder body, ebony board/maple neck.  I'm looking for a neck bucker to match a Boss single coil in the bridge.  Looking for a smooth 'jazzy' tone, akin to Andy Summers' 62 Custom.

Any suggestions?

Go with a Stormy Monday.  It will be a good match for the Tele bridge.  There was one at LGS a couple of years ago and it sounded brilliant.
So many pickups, so little time

Stormy Monday.

Are you bothered about the relative volumes of the two pickups?  I think anything hotter than "vintage" will swamp the bridge pickup.  Anyway, regardless of that, the SM has to be the one.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I think that a neck 'bucker and bridge single coil are fairly unbalanced anyway.

Stormy Monday would be best off with something a bit beefier in the bridge - Boss maybe or Piledriver ????
