Nice stuff!

I've got three questions:
1. What pickups have you got in the Strat?
2. What's the orange pedal on the right (Subdecay something-or-another?)
3. Why didn't you use the Mayo?

I love my Big D - I like either setting 1 with soft clip (apparently mildest OD, but great crunchy stuff) or setting 5 (fuzz) - I would recommend them anyone.

Sounds good although the quality is a bit bad.. I'm still considering getting a Power Screamer or Big D for driving my Laneys front end a bit. Would you think a Big D is overkill for that?

Nope, I use the Big D on my JCM800 - use the main drive on it to kick the arse of the amp (the amp has a lovely crunchy/clean sound to it which) and get it into 'METAL' territory.  The Bigger footswitch then acts as a Solo boost.

If you want to hear it in action Tom, you can come see my band at the Horseshoe in Wellingboro this Sunday if you like.

Sorry, shoulda been more clear.

That clip is NOT me playing!!

a) I can't play anything remotely close to blues
b) I don't own any SSS guitars

That clip was posted on the HBE forum and I thought it was really good.

Sorry if there was any confusion!

Ahh I see.. when using the Big D to boost, then using Bigger to boost it, does it get really sensitive/feedbacky? All my overdrive pedals seem to do that and its pretty annoying.

_tom_, I owned a Big D long before I got a Power Screamer, and I've always used it as an OD. I made a thread recently comparing the Big D and the Power Screamer. Should be easy enuff to find ...

Basically, if you want kick ass OD, get a Power Screamer.
If you want 15 kick ass ODs in one box, get the Big D.

Tom I have both PS and Big D too - I use the PS for the Tube Screamer sound - it has that compressed tone of the Ibanez and a bit more too.  However, to get one pedal that can go from OD to scorching distortion to Fuzz go Big D - it'll make you smile, I promise  :D

thanks for the clip, ben, I couldn't remember how well it did the OD tones, that was one of the main things holding me back (well, apart from chronic procrastination and lack of funds).

:drink:

EDIT: wow, that's a pretty long clip, I guess he was getting into it! Nice playing, though.
