Engl Fireball - which cab?

Using my Engl Fireball with a Behringer BG412H cab which, contrary to reviews I've read, is a piece of shite.
I'm looking to get either:
An Engl Standard 4x12
A Framus Dragon 4x12
I'm a single guitarist in a thrash metal band, and I feel that the Framus cab may be better suited to my sound and will cut through the drums and bass better, but this is just my guesswork (due to speakers) and I'm not in a position to try either cab before buying.
Can anyone please help?

I've only played through the Engl, but I've heard amazing things about the Framus.

The Engl was great, but the Framus is cheaper, other than that I dunno.

Your amp totally outclasses the cabinet you own. A better solution may be to upgrade the drivers in the cab you already own.

In my experience, if you want really good tone, you have to invest in a cabinet that will not flex at high SPLs as well as have high resolution, good construction and good parts quality. I have found, ultimately, that I like a Rivera 4x12 top an old Hiwatt 4x12 bottom for my purposes.

Being that you play in a thrash band, you may want to go with a Marshall 1960 cab, or put Celestions in your current cabinet. You can also sell off the Behringer and pool together whatever money you were going to spend into getting one high quality cab. Even used, you will get much better performance.

Some used, high quality cabs you should be on the lookout for:
Mesa
Rivera
Hiwatt
Orange
Laney (especially really old ones loaded with Fane drivers)
Marshall

Also, I'll add that vintage 30's work very well with engls- they seem to be almost designed to work with them, they fill out the gaps in the engl tone (sorry for the dodgy explanation term!), for want of a better description.

To that end, I don't think I'd go for the engl standard cab, I'd either get the engl vintage cab (with v30's, but expensive) or go with another brand of cab with v30's.

Obviously, speakers aren't the only thing that affects the tone. the cab materials/construction matters a lot too.

dont the framus and the engl both use V30's?  Engl made a publishing error when they put v60.

anything with v30's are pretty standard, you just have to look for build quality after that.  Orange, engl and framus i believe all have relative build quality, so theyre a good bet... though oranges are overpriced.

Marshall cabs are decent, but they usually use g12t-75's which are fizzy and mid scooped, or  g12m's (greenbacks) which are only 25 watts a piece and have virtually no headroom... very trebly... definately not for everybody.  The only fear i have with marshall cabs is the handles have a tendency for breaking, but thats the same with any thin plastic handle.  

Out of your selection, i'd go for the framus, theyre sexy and have great resale value.

+1, but since you specified 4x12 specifically i guess it's not to be.

Thanks for all the advice - due to an Interest free deal at Sound Control I went over budget and bought a Orange PPC412 cab today - a bit expensive (£540), but still cheaper than the Engl Vintage.

It looks pretty ridiculous with the Fireball, but sounds sweet! It's probably down to the speakers, but the clarity at high gain and volume settings is fantastic. It also produces a lot of bowel loosening bass.

I also tried a Marshall 1960 cab which was nothing special, and a Mesa Oversize cab which was very loud, shrill and had nowhere near as good a bottom end as the Orange.

V30's are the best rock speaker going, especially for lead.

they work incredibly well with ENGL's you might wanna put some Weber beam blockers on them at a later date, just helps warm things up a bit.
