Is 10lbs to much weight for a single cut guitar?
I am considering a single cut that is tipping the scales at 10lbs/4.54 kilograms. This is a beauty but at $3,000.00 US is the weight going to kill me.

When you are spending that much you should really know what guitars do or dont suit you.
10lbs is a lot to some people but too light to others. Personally i think 10 is verging on too heavy but managable, it really depends on the design of the guitar, how long you are going to be playing it for and your own physical characteristics. If you have back problems then obviously avoid it.

It's a Dean Soltero early proto model. It's pretty sweet.

for me, the heavier the better, means it sustains for longer, and also i like to have a guitar i can throw about a bit, safe in the knowledge it's not going to snap

Use a big, wide strap and you'll be fine. the wider the better...
Last week i played a guitar that was 13.5 lbs... and with a wide strap it wasnt too bad.
It was an amazing guitar too... with an amazing price ;)
Make sure you use strap-locks too!

I ponied up for the #1 first made Soltero proto and should have it in a couple of weeks. This is a sweet beast at 10lbs even. Some BK's will be in it's future but first I will bond with this thing of beauty and then I will ask TO (Ben) and Phil King to help me choose.

10lbs isn't too heavy IMO. FWIW, I have 3 Les Pauls weighing:
8lb 7oz (Vintage Burst)
9lb 7oz (Desert Burst)
10lb 13oz (Goldtop)
The Goldtop is noticably heavier, but not unmanageable. The Desert Burst is a nice weight.

I have two words for this video:
"Strap lock"
Every guitar should have them.
