9-way toggle
« on: March 04, 2007, 05:01:06 PM »
I've been going mad trying to find one of these to mod my Maverick with. It HAS to exist!
I want to just have a switch with a ring of 8 surrounding contacts and one in the centre for 'ALL'. This is so that I can have split coils and such without littering my guitar with ugly switches. I'd like to leave a couple free for 'Kill' and 'Acoustelectric' sounds (I'd sort these out in the future).
If I can't get one I may have to concede defeat and go for a rotary style; which will look conspicuous :( . I could set the rotary sideways like the other controls but that would mean re-routing and the addition of another bracket to hold it.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

Never heard of a switch like that.

Are you sure you need that many more options than a five-way would give you?  Simple is usually best, I find.

Sorry, I realise this isn't helping.

I'm with Philly Q i cant think of why you'd need 8 (9 with the center point) options.   :?:

how many different types of switching can you need?

would a couple of push pulls alongside your regular selecter switch not give you those extra options (and maybe be less confusing)

The problem with that is the Maverick has "sideways" controls (I think  :? ), so push-pulls aren't an option.

That's right, they're like barrels set into the side of the guitar, so they can't move (apart from to rotate, of course :))

I want to retain the visual style as much as possible. that means 1 switch although I could have another installed JP style above the neck Pup...
Essentially I want to have my coil splitting and combination options in one place.
Yesterday I was looking for a 12 way rotary - which I couldn't find that would work for guitar but I found some very nice 'Ordinary' control knobs and I think it'd stand out well, especially if it has a red 'eye' on the top. I was looking on WD and think those ribbed ones would fit well with the hardware.
But if anyone can find the switch I'm after I would be most great full.

they are indeed - just checked out the website - them guitars look mint especially that x series one with the inverted headstock!!

could you not  mount another toggle switch next to the one thats there, if its the same style you could have a 3 way way for the pickup selection as is & second 5 way for the weirdness - coil split, series, phase & maybe kill switch

that would be a versitile/mental (i'm undecided!) machine   :D

Yeah but I want to keep the simplicity of the control layout with the extra features.

Get a picture of a Maverick and mark out WHERE you would put it so I can see what you're on about.
