Amp Advice Required

Hi

Im just after a bit of advise on a new amp. I have just started in a band and the lead guitarist has a marshall dsl 50. I need a new head to let me compete. Now do I go for a dsl 50 or a laney. I have owned 3 laneys before two vc30 which both died and then the vc15 (still got) and I love the sound of them. So favourite is the laney however Im unsure which to get I tempted by the TT50H but will this be loud enough to compete (and maybe even on occasion drown out! the lead! or the VH100 but I think this may be too loud and I cannot get a good tone at lower volume? By the way guitar is Tokai Love Rock Fitted with Bk Mules (The absolute dogs dangglies).

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Forgot to add music is indie/rock ie oasis, razorlight etc

Those DSL 50s seem really loud because they're so cutting.  A great compliment to their tone would be a Laney GH50L or similar.  I used to have one and they're cracking amps.  If you need the clean channel, then go for the TT series.  I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Some suggestions:

Try an Orange. Rocker 30s are very nice for indie tones, especially as you are a rhythm player. It sounds thick and warm with a hint of fuzz in the midrange. Ad30 is a bit more vintage with a more saggy feel.

If you don't need a super clean clean go for Laney GH50L or you can try finding an old Marshall JMP. If you aren't gonna use that much gain on the amp anyway, it'll be very easy to clean up.

Laney VH100R rules but I'm in a metal band and only ever go up to 4 on volume (and then my ear rings for 5 hours after that). Oh and it's a heavy bar-steward.

Hi,

Crikey guys... what are we talking about here... music? Competing and drowning out... ears ringing for 5 hours after a gig...? Hearing damage is on its way and tinnitus... possibly. Seriously check this out before you plug in again! 8)

Splawn Quick Rod! It does all the classic Marshall tones, has a great solo boost, 1/2 power option, and sounds amazing! It will blend well with the DSL50, but also sound complimentary.
