naw, i'm pretty laid back. my patience is close to being legendary (you dont want to be close when it wears out though)
i know it looks undefined. and even more so in the pic with the cr@ppy lightning. the one with the flash is undefined too, cos at a distance, everything is still black. up close you can see which lines will be crisp and stick out though and which will fade, to leave the shading behind.

also, i think i'll have more colour added too. just have to figure out in what way. i dont want the whole thing coloured

I have to say that I wasn't sure what it was in the photos

However I also know that many tats look pretty indistinct (or just plain bad) until a bit of healing takes place. some of the worst looking pieces I have seen (straight after the work is done) have actually been the best once things tave tidyed themselves up.

From a personal viewpoint I only have one (smallish) tattoo and it took me a year to decide on the artwork and tatooist, simply for many of the reasons that Jonathan described.

well.. this one took me .. close to 8 years now. i always wanted a tattoo, but i didnt want something that would just be a fashion accessory you know (like most people do it today. $%&# those ass tats and the butterflies and whatevers (tribal and chinese letters anyone?)
i wanted something that had some meaning for me. i looked into norse runes and things like that, majorly cool stuff on its own to research and read about., but nothing did it for me. so keeping in the vein of mythology and my general attitude, i thought, why not a phoenix, so i started looking at pics and tats, but none were like i wanted them (either too cliche or bad drawings and things like that) after i found this drawing, i knew i wanted this one, so i got in touch with an artist here, that did some cool stuff and he said that it's no problem

we talked about how to pull it off how much shading, which parts should be pronounced. at first he didnt want to add any coloring to it, cos it looked great on its own, but once he started with the red and yellow, he said after it heals to come by and he'll add more free of charge, cos it looked freakin badass :D

Can't wait to see it when it's finished!

The last tat I got wore me out. I got a tat on my back with my daughter's name. I sat there for over 4 hours. It's all black and gray work. The black really wore me out.

If ya want to check it out I'll pm ya a pic. I don't want to hijack your thread.

post away :D

this took a little more than an hour. thats probably why it didnt hurt (and that i dont have most of my nerves in my chest, due to a boiling vanilla pudding accident nearly 20 years ago)

if it took longer, it would probably hurt more after a while

Cool!!!

Vanilli not cool!

I pondered this tat for a while cause I didn't want a basic tat with my daughter's name. So, I combined 2 things that I love the most and came up with this idea. Pic was taken right after he was finished.

This pic will give you an idea of the size of it. I tried to get it close to the actual size.

Anything involving burns isn't funny (my wife spent 4 months in hospital after pulling a pot of tea over herself aged 4). Though in saying that my Dad burning his eye is a quite funny story (becasue there was no permanant damage)

As for the tattoo I know the feeling about choosing, I wanted to choose something that some meaning to me. In my case I went for the 'all seeing eye' as featured on the US dollar bill, due to several of it's supposed meanings. Funny thing was that 2 tattoo studios refused to consider doing it as it may have caused isses with the local masonic lodges. The studio which I used actually asked if they could the atrwork I supplied. I guess I should have asked for royalities !

BTW hows the healing going ?

Me too, I'm worried that I'd choose a design then wish I got something else later on in life

For that reason I wont get a tattoo and instead will just have it printed on a t-shirt or painted on a jacket (or even a guitar)
Then I can change my mind without regrets - just change my clothes or play another axe.

yeah, "member of the fall-out boy fan club" you probably want to keep under wraps, lol.
