nice. violin's awesome. I like it in classical music, some of those first violinists kick all kinds of ass.

very true.

i would love to learn electric violin, but all of my money goes towards random GAS pursuits, leaving none for other great stuff.

it's also great having friends who are great folk violinists, who can stoke up a jig (is that a real phrase?) at a party..... awesome!

If you like that then try almost anything a guy called Ric Sanders is on.

Although he is more Rock / folk influenced, hes an ex member of Fairport Convention and played for a load of other bands like 'All about Eve', Soft Machine (post Allan Holdsworth) and others.

Saw these fretted violins at NAMM last year

The demos were pretty cool

I liked that clip though - nice use of FX too

I might be able to manage that but it would lose the expressive qualities of the violin unless you somehow bent strings or used a whammy pedal.
I too use chicken as a measurement.

does anyone remember a guy in the early nineties that played a fretted double neck violin?  i remember seeing him in Guitar for the practicing musician.  never actually heard him play, but liked the picture!

can't remember his name, must see if i can find that magazine...

Hmm, true. Why don't they just paint the frets on?

+100000

if they did, i would buy one NOW!

the only problem i find with violins is how i never put my finger on the right note. it's always 1 or 2 semitones off, which makes it sound like cr@p.

mind you, i was trying to play Enter Sandman
