I have no problem getting nice punch and low end definition on a studio recording. There's multiple microphones involved, compression, nice e.q., etc. But I'm not used to getting that kind of low end definition instantly just by plugging the guitar straight into the amp.
I keep the e.q. flat on my amp for practicing. I plugged the guitar in to practice yesterday and said 'Woah! I need to record some of this'.
That sound clip is just 1 mic in front of my cabinet. It's recorded through my little mixing board. Then I did another track for the other side. Nothing fancy.
