Epiphone pickups stamped "222683"???
« on: March 21, 2007, 10:14:01 PM »
I've just taken the pickups out of my early 70s Pearl Les Paul to fit some covers and they're stamped underneath with 'Epiphone' and '222683'.  Anyone know anything about them?  Spec or age?  I've tried Google-ing and got nothing...

These pickups just look to me like they might just be made by a small company I know called Epiphone.

Quite ironic to find them in a Les Paul copy though ;>

But they're fitted to a Japanese Pearl Les Paul copy from the early seventies, and they have the three screw mounting like a Yamaha SG.  Very unusual I would have thought?  Anyone seen anything like them before?

I think I've solved it, and discovered where my gutar was made  :D

Check this page out for the first Japanese Epiphones produced in the seventies.  They all have "three screw" humbuckers:

They were all made at the Matsumoku factory.  Guess that's where my Pearl was made then and why it has Epiphone branded pickups!
