BOSS RV-2 Digital reverb HELP
« on: March 23, 2007, 09:51:42 PM »
Hails Guys
i just Bought a Boss RV-2 Reverb and the guy that sold it to me, said that ir originally doesnīt comes with the battery clip cause its the boss pedal that consumes more ammount of energy fromall the pedal, and then itīs only uses the Ac adapter
is that True!?!?

i just got it today and it didnīt have the battery clip. and im thinking the guy is trying to ripme off or something cause the shape/design of the pedla is identically of the other ones,no physical modifications inside the batery clip.
and iīm affrai of testing it myself and burn it.
cause i donīt know itīs voltage ,and all those stuffs and i want some feedeback from you regarding it.
i have a ac adapter that i use to power my other boss pedals(Metalzone, super phaser, bass equalizer, super overdrive, digital delay)
but, not sure if i can use the same for this pedal, since it requires (at least itīs what the guy said to me) more energy than the other pedals.
can anyone clear this tome please!?!?
i m trying to find that old boss area site, but no lucky.
Q
JP

PS - i just found that boss area site
it says that this digital reverb rv-2 drains 130 mili ampers at 9 volts
and i use a estabilized ac adapter that has 500 miliampers
This is my estabilized Ac adapter
i use it with all my biss pedals and i never have any problems,.
Input 127/220 ac - 60hz
Output 9V Dc - 500 MA

I just found this on Harmony Central:
Quote
Reliability  : 8
I have no doubts I could use this in a gig, but I have a Jap version so I can't run it on 9v batteries, only AC, could be a problem in potential gig venue where I'm not close to a mains lead.

Other than that, I'd say it would be perfect to use. It's a Boss, these things are designed for punishement.

And does it look like this?

I hope this helps.

I don't know about that specific pedal, but digital reverb/delay pedals generally do eat a load of batteries. I know I use an adaptor with my digitech digital delay, battery life without it is about 2 hours, lol. And even if you unplug everything, come back the next day and the batteries are dead.

Though, you're right, does sound a little fishy that it CAN'T be run by batteries, according to that guy... is there any info on the boss/roland website, perhaps? Maybe you could download the manual or something.

Cool, seems like everythings fine then JP.
I had a look on some Japanese auction sites and it seems that this pedal was original sold with a power supply because you can't use batteries in it.

Yes I am.
These are about GBP200 or 700 BRL.

But this shop doesn't ship overseas, they have some amazing stuff that isn't on their website as well. I think only a few shops will ship to foreign countries, like Ishibashi and maybe Ikebe, but they don't have much used equipment.

ah, ok, glad it worked out. To be honest, there's little need for a battery clip on my digidelay either... I guess it's so they don't have to include the power supply in the price...
