I tried a couple of Double Cut Faded Les Paul Specials and they felt really cheap. Very dry fingerboards, rough fret ends, sloppy neck joints etc. They just felt "nasty".
Then again, I tried a faded V not too long ago and that had real character to its unplugged tone, and was put together really well.
I think there are good ones out there, but in my opinion the majority of them are quite poorly made. They have to be if they're built in the US, shipped over here, VAT added and still come in around £500.
