Unfortunatly I don't have a Stereo cab, though I can imagine with the Laney's open and 'marshally' tone and the Powerballs huge low end and killer gain It would sound monsterous.

nah, sunns are a different tone. Apples and oranges. Gain wise though, Steve could $%&#ing shred those sunns apart. $%&#, a powerball AND a vh100r? Those are my favorite metal amps ever! They're skull crushers. So... beautiful... in a metal playing situation, i'd take either one of those over a stack of sunns.
