Which BKP HSS set for Strat?
« on: March 26, 2007, 04:19:32 PM »
As the thread title states, I'm after a HSS set of BKPs for a strat with an alder body and a Rosewood neck. I play music ranging from indie to metal so preferably I want a hot bridge with nice open chords. Can anyone give me any suggestions regarding this?

Also I was wondering if Bareknuckle sell pre-wired pickguards for the HSS config?

Thanks in advance for any advice!  :D

Either the Holy Diver/Irish Tour, or Nailbomb/Irish Tour should see you right.  Some might also recommend the Crawler/Mothers Milk, but I don't have either of those pickups so can't comment.

If it was me, I'd choose HD/IT.  Holy Diver sounds fantastic in alder - massive fat midrange, huge riffs, but warm & dynamic enough to play lower gain & clean.

Nailbomb is slightly lower output, with more "cut" (as opposed to HD's "chunk").  I've only ever used it in Les Pauls though.  Search the Players forum & you'll find some HD & tons of NB clips.
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking about the Nailbomb, but you've really sold the Holy diver to me! Sounds great.

Does anyone else have any input about this or my question about the pre-wired HSS pickguards?

Cheers

BKP does sell prewired pickguards.

The Mother's Milk would sound brilliant in an alder/rosewood Strat. :D

You sound like you're set on the Holy Diver.

Holydiver does seem like it's the pickup for me. In regard to the prewired pickguards, I noticed they do SSS pre-wired but no mention of HSS. Any ideas?

I have a Crawler/Irish Tour/Irish Tour set in an Alder bodied Strat with a Rosewood fretboard and it makes for a very versatile sounding guitar :)
Selling lots of gear, enquire within!......

Nailbomb is probably the most versatile, i heard a an indie rock kinda clip of it in the players forum ages ago, and it also does death metal so i think that might be a good pickup to think about. However, having the Holy DIvers in my ibanez i would strongly recommend them to you, great all around pickup.

Thanks a lot for all the info everyone. Going to go with either Holy Diver or Nailbomb with 2 Irish Tours I think. Going to order tomorrow. Can't wait!

Thanks again!  :D
