Schecter F500T "Monstertone" alnico or ceramic?
« on: July 08, 2005, 03:24:35 PM »
Tim, I read on a forum going back a while that pickups with thick magnet running along the back of pickups means that they are ceramic?

My Schecter F500T tapped single coils have 1/4" poles which are completely flush to the black resin "no covers",  and completely covering the windings is a wide copper band.
On the back of all the pickups there is a thick magnet running the length of the pickup.

Do you have experience with older USA Schecter Pickups, if so are they alnico or ceramic.
Thanks in advance.
Stef.

If it is black it will probably be ceramic. Sticking a bar magnet across the bottom of a single coil is a very cheap way of making pickups, especially with ceramic magnets!
