Dude, after hearing those clips, I'm going with the Crawler set in my Standard.

No point in having 2 LPs with the same pups.

wise words my man!

mmm this is difficult...

it would be interesting to know what gear e.t.c. was used in those recordings... (might say somewhere else- i'll have a look)...

thats almost the sound im going for... but there wasnt much rhythm playing in there (which is primarily what i play)....

who else here actually HAS a crawler?

btw 808 mate- when you get yours id love to hear your thoughts on 'em... would be very helpful indeed.

i saw antag comment in another thread about HDs in les pauls and how it sounds huge but he thought it might perhaps be a bit too much...

I think that a major factor in my HD Les Paul is the cr@ppy 300k pots.  I have an HD in an all mahogany neck thru Jackson and a korina bodied strat & it's nowhere near as "rounded" in those as in the LP.

FWIW, I just swapped a Nailbomb out of a LP into a PRS & was surprised at the difference.  At the same time that LP got Miracle Man AND 500k pots - ummm, WOW

Going to put 500K pots in the HD LP very soon.  I bet it will slay
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

FWIW, listen to the two clips in my drop-D HD clip.

First one was recorded with a Jackson RR1T (maple neck-thru, alder body wings), the second with my HD Les Paul.  I'm not convinced the difference between the two is all down to body woods...

^haha.

by your description then its a custom custom... which would tie in with what i thought....

the EMGs in the jackson slay it completely lol....

haha, yeah. most people around here (including tim, I think i've seen him post about it before) don't mind emg's for what they are, as they're totally different to BKP's, and do what they do pretty well. SD's are more along the lines of BKP's, just not half as good.

at least until ive tried a BK humbucker in the Fernandes...

and noodle...

do you think he does though?

it would be cool if he did...

i had duncan custom custom pickup in bridge position and i must say, i quite liked it~! As other people have mentioned above it has a lot of midrange and quite a smooth sounding also very neutral and organic =). description from duncan web page says it's alnico 2 magnet, 17k.. erm... i found it quite low output pickup and lack of punch. Holy diver is somewhat dark sounding pickup, and I don't think it would be a good replacement for duncan custom custom. I would say rebel yell is way to go because it's quite a bright pickup, have tones of mid, and punch and clarity that was missing from duncan. although i got myself a miracle man to replace SD11
