Question: What compares to the Sh-4 JB?
« on: March 30, 2007, 10:14:03 AM »
I like the Seymour Duncan JB a lot, but it could use a little more oomph in the lower registers.

Which BKP compare best to the JB? I'm not sure, how to read the descriptions on the BKP site. Holydiver? Nailbomb?
Current BKPs: Miracle Man, Nailbomb, Juggernaut, VHII
Past BKPS: Holy Diver, Trilogy Suite, Sinner, Black Dog

Check out this thread for a full discussion:

If you're really very lazy indeed, then I'll summarise the thread for you: Holy Diver.

Although in one interview Steve Stevens himself compared the Rebel Yell to the original JB.
Bare Knuckles owned: Mules, VHII, Rebel Yells, BKP-91, Strat 63 set, Riff Raffs.

But bear in mind that the original JB is reputedly very different from the current JB.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

The original JB is a totally different pickup, it is 14.7k dc not the new 16.4.  I have one and TO has tried it and now knows why they got a good reputation before the change.  The closest BK to the original JB are the Rebel Yell and Holy Diver, though neither is quite the same.
So many pickups, so little time

Ok I read the post recommended.

Would a Holy Diver work with low tunings and heavy strings (it's a baritone)?

Also, what IS a Holy Diver? I think I recall that term about Ronaldo from Man-U, but maybe I'm just confused.

Holydiver is a Dio album featuring the awesome Vivian Campbell on guitar..............the HD handles drop tuning really well.

Holy Diver is the way to go.I have the older ceramic version and it crushes in my mahogany body-maple neck super strat that I built.
