I am replacing my SD Invader pickup in the bridge position after hearing some VERY cool things about these pickups.
My current set up is Dean Phantom Noir XT Flying V into a DAM Meathead Deluxe (
www.stompboxes.co.uk) into a splitter box, into a HH 100 watt bass head (with a Stagemaster 1 x 15 cab) and simultaneously into a 50 watt valve Selmer Treble n Bass (with a marshall 4 x 12 cab). I am lead guitarist and bass player all at once :o).
You can hear this setup and sound on our demo tracks on
www.myspace.com/conandoomconanThe pickup I am using is a Seymour Duncan Invader in the bridge and while I like the sound, it just doesn’t sound quite how I want it. I have been searching for quite while to find a more rounded sound from the pickup and I keep finding myself lowering the tone pot to 2 / 3 and reducing treble / presence on my amps. This makes it sound ok but also takes some of the life from the guitar tone.
The sort of tone I am after is similar high output like the Invader but I was hoping for a more bass heavy (but tight sounding) sound that will also make the fuzz pedal ‘fuzzier’ without me having to cut all the tone using the pot if you catch me?
I am not really a gear expert but I just kind of want it to sound a bit ‘deeper’ and saturated if you see where I am coming from.
Important Question - if I want the distressed look in Black, am I able to ask for a custom engraving? I was kinda hoping they could do a CONAN logo on it.....?
What would you recommend?
Please advise.
Jon.
