Hmmm - I'm friends with all 3 authors.....

They are all really good books
The Dave Burrluck book is maybe the easiest to get into for repairs while the Guitar Player guide is more comprehensive

the Build your own book is excellent - pretty much a bible for making guitars

Great fretwork!

My goal is to make Precise and Accurated Settings and Adjustments/repair on my 4 (soon to be 6) Guitars.
and then, when i start to get the feeling of do it Smoothly and fluidy,AND then start to do it for my friends . and charge then for it.

But,one of my greatest fears, and example of inaccuracy, is how to propper set up a floyd rose bridge and how to set up a neck truss rod.
that really sucks.

+1 on the Hisc--k book - thats the one that got me into building guitars.  It covers  3 different building styles as well as design,  electrics, finishing, building from parts and set-ups.

+2 on the Melvin Hisc--k book.  Read it when I was just a nipper and wanted to build a guitar since then.

There are some books which go into more details on some specific areas, but this is a very good place to start.

He's a bloody nice bloke too  :D

Just been speaking to Mr Hisc--k on another forum and it's become apparent that some theiving little dirtbag has started offering his book as an e book.

If anyone sees this about, could you let me know and I'll pass the message on (or let him know direct).  He's obviously well peaved about it, he's thrown a lot of money into that book (and started up a publication company for it).

Cheers guys

I fully endorse thos 3 books! I have the first two myself and they are a godsend.

Hey Tonemonkey, that's nasty! I will actively seek out whoever is doing it, it's just plain wrong! Support your local Author!

Melvyn's book is great for electric guitar building , whilst I would favour Dan Erlewine's for repairs and setup work
