Last night was the NYC performance of Heaven & Hell @ Radio City Music Hall. PJ & I had 2nd row tickets.

We were just right of center, dead in front of Tony Iommi. Iommi played his original John Birch for the majority of the set, and another, white SG type of guitar, but not a Gibson.

If you're a fan of Sabbath, Doom Metal, or RJ Dio you owe it to yourself to check them out!

One of the things that impressed me is that Iommi played right off of stage volume, instead of having his rig off-stage, iso-cab'd, and mic'd. He played through 4 stacks and we could hear the stage volume clearly from the 2nd row. Iommi played around with harmonic feedback a lot, too.

Dio was in great voice. He went through the first 4 songs, and they were long, without even taking a drink of water. The man is a machine!!

Really liked the rhythm secion, too. Appice has a very cool drum kit and one cymbal was shaped like the Templars Cross. Amazing!

The stage design, production, and mix, were all first rate.

The show was filmed for a DVD, and the cameras were right on us, so I may make an appearance when the DVD is released.

It was an incredible show, and I've been waiting 25 years to see it happen!

I wonder if you know how lucky you are!!

Great to hear the report. Most of the rest of us will have to settle for watching that DVD release! :)
