finally got my Explorer all tarted up with the hardware I like, looks purdy eh? still undecided about the black pickup rings though, think I'll have some creme ones on there and see how it looks.

the 'death metal' pedal is surprisingly good though limited to that one thing - not bad for Ģ36.

the bridge pickup is a Nailbomb and the neck pickup is a SD '59.  Will be putting a NB neck p/up in there soon as funds allow.

the NB just loves distortion - begs you to heap on as much gain as you dare and still stays focused but is still a very natural guitar tone (not forced)

SWEET!

I like the black pup rings. They bring out the pups making them easier to see!

Keep the black pickup rings!

I tried a digitech death metal once and it was surprisingly good for a budget distortion stomp box, much better than boss!

I'd keep the pickup rings but change the pickguard to black   I love black on natural.

keep everything the same. looks killer, and yes, the pup rings accent the pickups

could you describe that pedal's (digitech DM) tone? also, could you tell me if you could turn the gain down and use it as a boost in front of an amp?

thanks dude, sexxxy setup!

i have one, there is no gain knob.  The gain is permanently set to 11.5  Its $%&#ing rediculous.  All you have is volume, and an EQ... i find it has a very scooped sound, sterile lows, sterile mids, and hissing highs.  I could make a PERFECT dying fetus sound with it though... heh I find that the gain is very buzzy grindy styles, very interesting tone... sounds GREAT when you downtune, not so much in standard tuning.
i'm addicted to valve crunch so i dont like mine anymore...
my maxon OD 808 really DOES make poop sound good

the pedal reminds me of some of the bands I grew up on like Carcass & Napalm Death.  it does have a naturally scooped tone but it's still ballsy - depends on how you have the amp set.  it's a one trick pony, but it IS called 'death metal' so it's unlikely to do 'booster' duties or have much 'valve crunch' - not what it's designed to do.

I'm using this whole rig with the Explorer in D or C depending on my mood.  It nails the sound I was after, but then again - I WANTED that grindcore/death-metal tone from the 80s that was all over those Earache records albums, most people probably don't (heh).

Digitech Death Metal demos

totally off topic - but what do you guys think is a better metal pedal; the digitech death metal or the line6 uber metal? Been looking for something HEAVY AS HELL for use with my ibanez (+Nailbomb) and 100W peavey poweramp. (looking for pure death metal tones kinda like WFD's 5150 clips)
LOVING the Mules!
