Music Galleria in Lisburn have a S/hand Matamp 15 watter. Not sure of the model, although, clearly they aren't either, as it's on for 200 quid. Sounds fantastic, by the way....

yeah, i'm guessing they're closed on monday (easter monday and all), they might be closed every monday though, i remember one monday i was there, and they were closed for some reason. I was a bit annoyed. I have a knack of going to guitar shops on their day off...

ah, i tried it today. very nice, and great for £200. I couldn't recognise what speaker was in it, though. very nice edge of breakup tones, and to my ears, was kind of a half-way house between warm british type of tone, and fender tone.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you're my bank account) it doesn't really do anything that I can't already get with my current setup. So it's still there for any of you guys who haven't tried it yet.

well folks, sorry to disappoint anyone, but i am now the proud owner of the Matamp! i tried it out with a Les Paul and a Vintage (the company, not the age) strat, and with the strat in particular it gave the kind of sounds i'm looking for that my El Diablo :twisted: just doesn't do. the clincher was when i looked at the Epiphone valve junior beside it, with it's 8" speaker, single volume control and need for upgrades and thought "this things not much dearer and it's a hell of a lot more amp!"

oh, i think the 15 watts thing might be conservative. don't matamp rate according to clean output? this thing breaks up pretty early and seems almost as loud as my 60 watt Genz Benz! although i haven't had a chance to really crank it yet. but Colin, the owner, says he gigged it in a band with two drummers, and it was fine.

he's also selling his Mesa/Boogie F50 if anyone's interested. it's got a tag saying £750 on it. tried it too, that lead channel's a real fire breather!

it's an excellent amp! very much a modern rock amp though, vintage type tones are not it's forte. it does sparkling clean, crunchy rhythm, crunchier rhythm and screaming lead with the best of them. you can actually get a total of nine tones from the footswitch, and then the amp can be switched between 60 and 30 watts, which isn't really quieter but sounds....um..darker. the sounds are in the same ballpark as the Mesa F50, but it has more options.

bit of a contrast with the single channel, no reverb, no effects loop, low gain matamp, but it's a more transparent amp, letting more of the guitar's character through. that's precisely what was missing, which was why i bought it.

Congrats on the Matamp dude, on the first read I thought you said "Sorry to say I'm not the new owner of a Matamp" thus I didn't congratulate :D

Nice buy I bet the tone's phenomenal :D
