my Jackson King V needs new pups

hello,

I just bought a new Jackson KV2 and want to replace the stock pair of Seymour Duncan JB's.  the guitar has a maple neck-thru alder wings, ebony fretboard, and Original Floyd tremolo.

what pair of Bare Knuckle humbuckers would be perfect for thrash and speed metal?  I like to play the older stuff from Megadeth, Overkill, Metallica, Testament, Annihilator, Slayer, Exodus, Venom, Candlemass, Iced Earth, etc.

basically, I'm looking to get these classic thrash tones:

- good clean for song intros
- tightness and chunk for heavy rhythms
- articulation and screaming harmonics for soloing

Miracle Mans?
From what I've heard they would seem to fit your bill. Warpigs are perhaps a bit too much for your clean requirements, and I believe the MMs trump the Nailbombs regards squealing solos :)
I prepare to stand corrected, but I'd go with a Miracle Man bridge.

Miracle man is the thrash pickup, if i am not mistaken.
i agree, the warpig will be too high output for cleans, despite the crushing rhythm and solo tone you will get...... although, you can always trun down the gain on your clean channel  :D
if you went for Warpig though, be sure to ask for Ceramic magnets for a more biting, tight tone..... i can't wait for my Ceramic Warpig  :twisted:

but Miracle man would be my best bet. i think there was a thread about this somewhere, i'll find it for you  :D

so, how about a Miracle Man at the bridge for the heavy crunch and soloing, and a Cold Sweat at the neck for the clean stuff?

or perhaps a Holy Diver at the neck???  I understand it sounds great for clean tones?

MM cold sweat combo will serve you well.

You'll probably get a great clean out of any neck BK. I only have 2 neck HBs, though, and I'm still familiarising with one. Either would make a great compliment to a heavy bridge pickup (and do, in fact!): cold sweat and crawler.

If you want to play shreddy leads with the neck....then, again, you cant really go wrong, but the cold sweat excels at it, and has chiming bell like cleans.

Cos 'heavy' often entails 'shred', and, yes, the cold sweat IS that damn good for it!

Ill add another vote for miracle man in bridge as i am into playig/listening the same kind of music as you. I would also say cold sweat for neck but i cannot yet as i have not ordered mine but it is what im getting.

MM + CS combo is what you want.

I don't think you can go wrong with a CS in the neck as it is eternally popular for very good reason. As for the bridge, my vote is for either a HD or PK. The HD has really punchy mids and the PK has a very powerful bass with strong mids; both of which should suit your guitar.

i havent tried the painkiller but if you search through the players forum and look for posts by thor malleuson

that can show you just how good the miracle man can be :D

I havent tried the PK. I have a decent idea what it sounds like from clips, but past saying what keeps on being said: that its middier and less compressed, I wont say anything.

I have had 3 miracle men, and I can tell you that they'll deliver what you want extemely well.
