Philly, I agree with you in part, but there's no denying that most people are completely oblivious to real musical talent in this current day and age.
Example - my home town, with a humble population of about twenty thousand was visited by Alexander Gavrylyuk - one of the most mind buggeringly INCREDIBLE classical pianists in the world. In Sydney, the asking price for a concert of his is about $150 AUD upwards. Knowing we were a regional area, he lowered the cost to about $15. He put on two concerts here at the Manning Entertainment Centre.
They were very well advertised around town, mind you - but I went to the second one, and there was hardly anyone there. I have never experienced a more amazing musician in my life, and he couldn't even fill a third of a 400 seat venue.
