quick wiring question
« on: April 15, 2007, 10:26:17 PM »
I took delivery of a holydiver set for my tele (custom fmt) yesterday, and have opened the back cavity and made a quick diagram of the current wiring (pickups being sd pearly gates plus @ bridge and '59rp @ neck).  now, the bridge pickup has the red wire connected to the pickup switch, the black and green to the tone pot (for coil tapping) and white and bare to earth.  the neck pickup basically has the reverse; the green goes to the pickup switch, red and white to the tone pot and black and bare are earthed.

now I'm guessing, seeing as I didn't order a reverse polarity neck pickup from bkp, that I can just wire both pickups with the white wire to the pickup switch, red and black to the tone pot and green and bare to ground (assuming of course that I've got the correct information for which wire is which)?  because from what I can tell they've put a reverse polarity pickup in the neck and wired it "backwards," so that if my assumptions are correct it is effectively working as a standard polarity pickup.  I've been very wrong in the past though, which is why I'm double-checking the facts here

No, red is live on a bk, so that goes to the selector, black and bare to ground, green and white to split.

well I was just going by a straight conversion from sd wire colours to bkp wire colours, the info I got from the sd website says:

green: start of screw coil
red: finish of screw coil
black: start of slug coil
white: finish of slug coil

to be fair I did kind of assume the green and white should go to the split as they are joined together but I was just making sure because I want to do this right first time :D

so I'm assuming I can wire both pickups with red - pickup switch, green/white - pot, and black/bare - earth?
