New Pickups for an Ibanez RG1570?
« on: April 22, 2007, 07:19:41 PM »
Title gives most of it away really. I play metal almost exclusively, and would like a really aggressive bridge humbucker capable of incredible sustain and harmonics. I also need a middle singlecoil suitable for nice cleans, this will be its main use. The neck humbucker will be mainly used for leads, especially sweeps, so it must give a smooth warm tone, similar to Dave Murray's for example. More info below V

Bridge: Something like Judas Priest/Firewind/Megadeth/Shadows Fall
Middle: Strat sounding clean, Hendrix-like etc.
Neck: Iron Maiden/Metallica (Fade to Black)/Firewind/Trivium

The guitar is made of basswood, and the set up is HSH

My recommendations:

Bridge: Painkiller. You said 'Judas Priest' so I have to say 'Painkiller'.
Middle: Irish tour
Neck......dunno, so I'm gonna go with my stock metal neck pickup answer. Cold Sweat. The CS never fails for metal in the neck  8)

Painkiller set, unless you play the middle pickup don't bother with it, i just got a set of Holy Divers for my Ibanez and left the stock middle pup in.
