hi, could you help me pick pickups for an epiphone les paul? i play mainly classic rock (guns n roses, led zep) and alternative sometimes heavier (queens of the stone age) thanks

+1, but i would recommend Mules because i know nothing about BDs :)

except that they are modeled after Page's sound, i think...

I have Mules in my LP Classic and I love them.

They have beautiful cleans sounds and I love when I palm mute for rock, it doesn't sound metallic...more of a round sound.

I need to get off my ass and make another vid but with distortion this time.

I'd say Mules, I asked pretty much the same question when I was looking for new pickups and thats what I got. See the link in my sig for loads of clips.

IMO, Mules will fit the bill perfectly. I have a set in my Epi LP and the tone for the type of stuff you mentioned is spot on.

thanks guys, so what options should i get:
spacing-50 or 53
conductor- is it harder to install 4 conduct and how would i use coil splitting, do i have to install another switch or something?
coil- does potted cost more?

You'll want 50mm spacing for your bridge pickup, neck will be 50mm as standard.

If you want to have a coil split/tap, you'll need an extra 2 switches, one per pickup if you don't want them both tapped at the same time; a push-pull pot on each tone control is the setup I've got on my LP. It's not impossible to do, but when I fitted my Mules, the pots were already there, having been fitted by my local guitar tech when he put a previous Bareknuckle in for me. This also meant I had a correct 4-conductor wiring scheme to copy from. The stock Epi pickups will be 2 conductor, so if you go down the coil tap route, you'll have to install the new pots and figure out the wiring too.

Potted pickups are the standard option as far as I know, but I don't think there's any difference in price between potted and unpotted pickups.
