2 Crunch Box clips
« on: April 24, 2007, 02:53:17 PM »
Just did a couple of sloppy clips with my new Crunch Box into my Laney GH50L. Sorry for the cr@p playing, and the quality isnt amazing because my recording setup is really basic (sm57 straight into my soundcard).

First is the amp set for a crunchy clean kinda sound, then I switch on the pedal

Heres a clip comparing it to my Laneys boost channel. First is crunch box on the clean, 2nd (starting at about 0:31) is Laney boost channel As you can see it sounds pretty much the same. The only real difference I hear between the 2 in the room is that the CB has a slightly looser bottom end

Not sure if I'm keeping it yet, need to try the CB into my practise amp to see if it sounds good into that, if it does I'll keep it for when I go to uni..

_tom_ if you weren't across the pond, I would love to have you in the 70s rock inspired side project I want to do. (Tentatively called Devil's Stomp) Maybe we can do it transatlantic?

Great sounding clip. The crunch sounds very organic.

Yeah, it is a really great pedal. I've just been playing for about half an hour or so just going back and forth between the Laneys boost and the Crunch Box, I think the CB has a bit more "roar" and aggression to it, and the Laney is a bit clearer (especially on the neck pickup). Still havent decided which I prefer, gonna try out the CB at band next week though (cancelled this week because someones using the studio to record in :x)

I might actually be interested in that Devils Stomp project, I'll PM you :)

One of my favourite bands of all time! They fused so many genres of hard rock it's not funny. I plan on continuing that tradition, but with a touch more gain and a little more soloing. I will probably need it because the odds of finding a singer like Ian Gillan are slim. Worst case, I will hire a singer of my chosing for the promo, however. (I'm thinking of someone like Jeff Scott Soto)

Sorry, _tom_  ... HIJACK OVER!!

Cool...thanks for fixing the link!

I liked both tones!

The crunch box has more of a classic rock tone.

Your Laney sounds awesome!

Nice Tom!

I think the CB is fuller and fuzzier which is more traditional.  The Laney on its own, as you know, is very clear sounding which I personally prefer.  CB sounds good though!
