Buying stuff from the USA?
« on: April 24, 2007, 08:01:27 PM »
hey guys

I bought something from the USA ages and ages ago and they company never sent it, they kept fobbing with me off with excuses. Anyway cos its been so long I am no longer convered by paypal, is there anyway I can kick up a stink? I lost £100 basically and It makes me a bit sick that they can get away with this because I'm in the Uk and theyre in America.

If anyone could offer me any advice it would be great, I dunno who else to ask

Cheers

I think you're covered by Paypal upto 90 days, right?

If I don't have goods within two weeks I get on a seller's back about it - post from the US is very good these days, even the standard USPS Parcel Rate (global priority) typically takes 5 working days.

Sounds like you were fobbed off mate  :(

What about ebay? - have you gone through their dispute process?

Thanks for the advice

Yes I used paypal but its been longer than 90 days, they kept fobbing me off with excuses and I kept giving em extra time.

The item is clothing and its from a proper shop all legit, I just dunno why they decided to rip me off. Surely there has to be something else I can do apart from payal?

do you have proof that paypal kept fobbing you off with excuses?

have you checked with your local office of fair trading (they might not be able to do anything legally, but may be able to give advice)?

was it not the shop that kept making the excuses?

as has been said, try contacting paypal again, it must be worth a go

I just assumed it was an ebay purchase - does anyone shop anywhere else?

If the purchase was funded through a credit card then get on to your card company - they will fight your corner even though Paypal won't.  I really wouldn't waste your time with Paypal, they point blank refused to answer simple questions I emailed them when I had a problem with them - all I ever got was an email fobbing me off and asking me to phone their customer services line.  not the best solution when you want something in hard copy.

if you used your bank debit card through Paypal you're probably not in quite a strong position - you could phone your bank and ask what they're willing to do but I wouldn't hold your breath.

i agree about the credit card thing... you're always in a much stronger position when you buy that way (though unfortunately a lot of the time it's only apparent that you should have used it after you paid...)
